A great work of art, this is the shorter, more dramatic of Bach's two Passion settings. It is also very personal; we are asked to understand the characters, and to learn about ourselves and our spiritual needs.

A long tradition evolves as Ex Cathedra brings its distinctive period-instrument interpretation of the St John Passion to Symphony Hall on Good Friday.

Sung in German. Surtitles in English.

'This concert will make for a poignant Good Friday.' (BBC Music Magazine editor, Oliver Condy)
